Contemporary Garden, Scarcroft, Leeds
The clients had nearly finished building their home in Leeds when they called me in to design the garden. They wanted a contemporary garden with lush planting, real presence, and clearly defined areas.
The design uses four ornamental Pear trees and a raised bed planted with herbs and grasses to create different areas around the terrace. The areas are surfaced in dark slate. Stipa gigantea, also called "Giant Oats", surrounds the pool and lawn, making a semi-transparent screen. Soft fluffy grasses and flowers contrast with the solid surfaces.
