Country Garden near York

The clients wished for a timeless country garden to sit smartly around their house near York. They wanted seating areas for different times of day and with different uses.


The existing path was retained, and overgrown conifers cleared. My design uses Juniperus virginiana "Skyrocket", which will grow only slightly taller, to frame the views to and from the house, and the planting forms a nice arc around the lawn, creating a feeling of enclosure. Seating and a birdbath add to the traditional country look. A partly hidden raised dining terrace catches the evening sun.
