Steeply Sloping Garden, Roundhay, Leeds

This steeply sloping plot in Roundhay was full of potential, but so overgrown it was impossible to walk through the garden. Dr. Cath Harrison and Dr. Tony Hale contacted Earthworks to see about designing their garden for easy access from the soon-to-be-renovated kitchen. A seating area at the top of the slope is at the same level as the kitchen, surrounded by flowers, with commanding views across the rooftops. Cath's kitchen garden is close by so she can easily pop out and pick fresh vegetables any time of the day or night.

A series of elegant steps and terraces lead through planting beds down the slope, with a variety of seating areas to sit and relax, some being cosy and intimate and others being open to the views.
